Happy Halloween!!

I was a little worried about how the day was going to go with the rain this morning and it being Halloween.  HOWEVER...we had a GREAT day!  We had so much fun with our center rotations, a birthday party, a little just dance, and topped it all off with Witches Brew and a movie!  This morning we had a little fun taking pictures before the parade.  Here are some of my favorites!

The sweetest little girls that I get to spend all day with!

And an awesome group of little boys!

The green slime ghost and ghost buster provided quite a few laughs this morning.

Its a blurry - but he was showing me how the hulk flies through the air to get people :)

We won't have to worry about crime today!

And you always need a few fairies and a cheer leader in the class.

Hope everyone has a happy and safe Halloween!!

Dillon Nature Center Walk

This week we walked over to Dillon Nature Center to learn about spiders.  The kids learned lots of new things and got to see some spiders in action.

This is a barn spider that makes an orb web (round and round).   There is a grasshopper stuck in her web.

This is a funnel web spider (her web is on the ground and looks like a kitchen funnel).  She has a stink bug in her web.

These spiders make very different webs and capture their prey very differently.  Ask your kids about the different webs.  They can also tell you about spiders that don't make webs, and spider babies!

Candy Corn Everywhere!!

Today we had an exciting day filled with CANDY CORN!!

We started the morning making CVC words to look like candy corn (I forgot to take pictures of that!!)

Then we did a little candy corn and candy pumpkin nonstandard measuring.

Then we we did a little bit of number recognition that looked like candy corn.

Last they had to come up with combinations of candy corn and candy corn pumpkins for Jerrick to eat if he could only have 10 pieces of candy.  On Monday we will look at all the ways they came up with and which ones are turn around problems (the commutative property of addition).

We had so much fun except for the fact that I wouldn't let them eat the candy that every one touched and put on the floor!!

Happy LONG weekend!

Look who showed up today!

Today while I was at jury duty look who showed up in our classroom!

We will let it go free tomorrow and hopefully I will be able to tell the kids if Black and Yellow is a boy or girl butterfly!
